This 17-page engineering procedure document provides a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the formal product-development process used within Walt Disney Imagineering’s Show/Ride Engineering organization during the late 1990s.
The cover features Sorcerer Mickey alongside the WDI Show/Ride Engineering name.
Contents include sections covering objectives, control process, responsibilities, project planning and sign-off, estimates and budgets, resource planning, scheduling and archiving.
Particularly interesting are the internal project-plan and approval sheets covering engineering disciplines including Ride Mechanical and Electrical. Tasks shown include load-case definition, stress analysis, station-layout review, ride-system requirements, preliminary design requirements, ride simulation, software documentation and formal engineering sign-offs.
