This statue was produced in 2003; it is a limited edition collectible, number 278 of 1,000. It is based on the Cheshire Cat character from the American McGee's Alice video game. It was crafted out of resin, and I believe each one was hand painted. The black stripes and symbols are in good shape, and are especially clear on the top of the cat's head. The statue is 20 inches tall and is a bit heavy, but sits well on desks, shelves, and countertops. Made in China, officially licensed statue. Does not come with original box. Sat in a smoke-free, pet-free residence.
There is a slight chip in the paint on the back of the statue that is about a half-inch long (see photo with tape measure). I ran my finger over it and can tell its a chip in the paint, not a chip out of the material of the statue's body. A small crack in the paint is visible right next to the spine on the statue's back. If you found or made the same shade of blue/grey and painted over the chipped/cracked spots, you could make an easy fix out of that.
A listing from September 13, 2026, sold for $1,500 with its original box. Therefore, I've priced this based on it not having the original box and the slight chip in paint. Considering its rarity, I think this my asking prices are fair. It makes a great collector's item for fans of Alice in Wonderland in general. I no longer have a desire to display this, and need the money for more immediate expenses, so I am ready to part with it.
This will be packaged in bubble wrap and other stuff to cushion it. I will request USPS to be careful and mark the package box accordingly.
