This product is a vintage set of Soviet-made billiard balls 58.8mm for playing Russian billiards, 1990s. The balls are in good condition and in a complete set, in their original box with a label confirming their authenticity and originality (see photo). The set contains all the necessary balls in the amount of 16 pieces, for a full game of billiards, ideal for collectors or enthusiasts of traditional indoor games and for the production of rosaries. This set is not new, it has been used, but in very good condition. In some places the balls have scuffs that show a dark cherry color, which may be a sign of Bakelite products.

The balls are manufactured according to the USSR standard TU 6-19-37-89-82 "Neoleykorite balls for the games "Billiards" and "Snooker"" (date of entry into force: 16.10.1982). Reaction to baking soda as bakelite. The material of the balls was called differently by different manufacturers, namely: neoleykorite, carbonite, phenol-formaldehyde resin or bakelite (earlier name). Of the cast resites, neoleykorite, bakelite and carbolite are known. Neoleykorite is a hard light material resembling (in appearance) ivory, gradually turning yellow in the air. It was this material that began to be used to replace natural ivory. Bakelite is a hard mass of brown color (over time it becomes dark cherry), and carbolite is yellow, which is often painted black. Thus, all three described materials are resites, that is, resins with similar compositions and properties (the only difference is in color).Since these balls have the original color of old bakelite under the main ivory top color, which in the indicated places has the correct reaction to baking soda (it turns brown), the material they are made from can be positioned as bakelite.
