Here is a characterful naive painting of the head of what I believe to be a Welsh Terrier, painted upon a piece of Welsh slate which may even once have been a roof tile !The dog depicted has tan fur with some black highlights, a characteristic of this breed of dog. The fact that it is painted o Welsh slate is , of course, very appropriate, but this medium is also quita tactile and interesting in itself.
This plaque is in good vintage condition generally, and ready to hang. the top left hand corner of the slate seems to have broken off, but this does not affect the impact of this picture. There is a piece of leather lace at the rear, strong enough to hand the piece.
The item measures about 11 inches (28 cm) in width, by about 19.25 inches (16 cm) in height.
A lovely item for a cottage wall, or for any dog owner.
