ANTIQUE LRG GRAND TOUR SOUVENIR TRINKET BOX CASKET SCROLLED METAL ORMOLU EX-COND For Sale

This is a wonderful French antique souvenir box displaying a Paris scene which I think, but I am not certain, is the Grand Palais. This box, from the late 1800's, is a great shape for trinkets or other small treasures. This casket features ornate scrolled metal on all four sides with ormolu providing the border for the reverse painted cover. This box, larger than most of like souvenirs, measures 4 1/4" across, 2 5/8" wide and stands just 2 5/8" tall. The clasp snaps shut and closes securely. The interior includes a red tufted pillow-type compartment; it's in incredible shape although there are three corners where the fabric is missing. The colors of the painted scene are vibrant, and the representation is in very good condition with an occasional flake. A gem for those who love these souvenir boxes.
