Beautiful antique porcelain covered sugar bowl manufactured by Königlich privilegierte Porzellanmanufaktur Tettau, Germany.
This elegant piece features a wonderfully ornate molded and fluted form with a scalloped pedestal base, two large gilt handles, and a matching fitted lid with a decorative scroll-form gilt finial. The porcelain is decorated with delicate floral and botanical designs accented with gold.
The underside bears the distinctive Lion and T shield mark with GERMANY, associated with Tettau porcelain and commonly catalogued to the late 19th/early 20th century. The Tettau porcelain manufactory itself dates back to 1794.
Condition
Vintage/antique condition with age and use-related signs of wear. The gilt decoration has an intentionally mottled or dappled appearance, along with some additional wear to gilded areas and raised edges.
