Historical Context & Military Technology

Bronze Age Levantine Warfare (c. 1200 BC)

During the Late Bronze Age to Iron Age transition—the era of the Bronze Age Collapse and Canaanite-Israelite territorial conflicts—tanged javelin heads and heavy arming arrowheads were primary offensive weapons used by Levantine infantry and chariot forces (Ref: Yadin, The Art of Warfare in Biblical Lands, McGraw-Hill, 1963).

Structural Design & Ballistics

At 5.5 cm, this point bridged the gap between heavy war-bow projectiles and light throwing javelins. The raised central midrib provided structural rigidity upon impact against leather or bronze armor, preventing bending, while the swollen collar at the base of the blade distributed impact force evenly into the wooden shaft socket.
