Antique 18thC English Pewter Plate by H. Little London Hallmarks c.1760 For Sale

18th-century antique Georgian pewter plate handcrafted in London, England by the documented pewterer Henry Little.

This piece is highly collectible due to the incredibly crisp, deep strike of its makers' marks and historical ownership monograms on the reverse.

It features a classic plain rim style with a lovely, soft aged gray patina.

Historical Identification & Markings: The back of the plate features an exceptional array of highly legible historic touchmarks and guild stamps:

Maker's Touch: Two distinct horizontal banners reading "H. LITTLE" and "IN LONDON" beneath an ornate hallmark crest topped with a crown. (Henry Little is recorded as working in London from 1734 through the mid-to-late 18th century).

Quality Verification: Stamped twice with the official Crowned "X" quality mark, an 18th-century guild designation indicating high-quality "extra extraordinary" hard tin alloy.

Secondary Hallmark: A clear rectangular cartouche displaying the letters "TH".Marriage/Triad Monogram:

Features the original three-letter ownership initials "P" over "W E" stamped in a traditional triad layout, signifying the initials of the 18th-century family who originally owned and utilized this dinner plate.

Condition
