Antique early 20th-century glass automobile flower or bud vase, dating approximately to the 1910s–1920s.
An especially attractive example made from clear glass with delicate hand-painted pink rose and green foliage decoration accented by extensive gilt detailing. The upper end has a thick flared glass opening decorated with gilt bands, while the opposite end is fitted with a brass-colored pointed metal terminal. Additional elaborate gilt lattice decoration appears near the lower portion.
These slender glass vases were mounted inside early automobiles and used to hold small fresh flowers. The original automobile mounting bracket or holder is no longer present, and this listing is for the glass vase as shown.
Measures approximately 8 inches long x 2 inches maximum diameter.
Estate-fresh antique condition with expected age wear, including rubbing and loss to portions of the painted and gilt decoration, oxidation/tarnish and wear to the metal fitting, and typical minor surface wear to the glass.
