Antique Art Deco English Blue Guilloche Enamel Cut Glass Vanity Jar For Sale

Fabulous Art Deco vanity/dresser jar featuring a gold tone lid adorned with stunning blue guilloche enamel which radiates out from the bottom of the lid in a sunburst design. Because the lid was not made using precious metal, there was no need for a hallmark, so sadly we don\'t which maker was responsible for this striking piece. The jar is part of a set of four items, including a hand mirror and a pair of clothes brushes. The only identification I can find on any of the items is on one of the brushes, which is stamped \"British Made.\" (Please note that all four pieces are available for sale under separate listings - see last photos for other items in set). This elegant vanity jar, so evocative of the Art Deco period, remains in excellent condition. I can neither see nor feel any chips or cracks in the glass. There is a small blemish on the bottom and light surface scratches in the glass consistent with age, material and use. The beautiful blue enamel on the lid appears faultless. The lid, which is quite substantial, fits well on the jar. There is a little play in the connection between lid and jar, but the lid is in no danger of falling off; in fact, it can take a little effort to remove the lid. The only part of the jar that definitely show signs of age and wear are the metal side edges, which are lightly scratched and discolored. These very minor flaws are part of the piece\'s history and do not detract in a meaningful way from either its utility or aesthetic appeal. This lovely large jar, which measure approximately 5 inches wide by 2.5 inches tall, is both beautiful and useful. It would add old world style and sophistication to your dressing area and be a striking addition to any collection of antique vanity items.
