Early Boyco automobile running-board oil can in its original muted blue finish, with the original threaded cap embossed BOYCO.
These portable cans were made for Boyco Service Units, aftermarket accessories designed to carry emergency gasoline, oil and water on the running boards of early automobiles. This blue can is the approximately one-gallon size associated with Boyco oil cans.
The original finish is heavily worn, leaving a mix of blue paint, exposed metal, oxidation and rust that gives the piece a very industrial early-automobile look. It has been cleaned as thoroughly as I felt was appropriate, but I did not attempt to remove rust or restore the finish.
A great piece of early automotive history for a Model T/Model A collection, petroliana display, garage or industrial decor.
