This stein was acquired from an estate and is accompanied by an original handwritten family letter documenting its history.

According to the handwritten family history, the stein belonged to the writer's oldest aunt and her first husband, who was born in 1855, married in Leadville, Colorado in 1885, and died in Grand Junction, Colorado in 1911.
Of particular interest, the family letter describes the piece as their “genuine antique” and specifically identifies it as:
“Kaiser Wilhelm (German Emperor)”
The original handwritten provenance letter shown in the photographs will accompany the stein and should remain with it as part of its history.

The underside is marked “Musterschutz” and bears a blue painted factory-style mark.A German designation indicating that the design was legally protected.
