This is an authentic antique embossed glass bottle associated with Martin & Martin, the Chicago manufacturer of E-Z Stove Polish. Bottle references identify this style specifically as an aqua E-Z Stove Polish bottle.
A REALLY COOL PIECE OF CHICAGO HISTORY
The story behind this little bottle makes it considerably more interesting than an ordinary antique container.
Martin & Martin\'s E-Z Polish operation became associated with a historic factory at 3017 W. Carroll Avenue in Chicago, built in 1905 and designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The building is recognized as an important piece of Wright\'s industrial work and was constructed for the production of stove and shoe polishes.
Historical references indicate that E-Z Polish was being manufactured in Chicago as early as the 1890s, making bottles from this production line desirable examples of early American commercial advertising and household-product history.
THE BOTTLE
This example has an attractive aqua / blue-green glass color, a substantial antique-glass feel and strong molded embossing.
The raised lettering is part of the glass itself rather than a paper label, making the bottle especially attractive for display.
CONDITION
Antique / pre-owned condition.
The bottle shows normal signs of age and use, including surface wear, scratches, scuffs, haze/discoloration and manufacturing irregularities consistent with antique glass.
