A Little About Me — The RestoratorI've worked in precision manufacturing for over 20 years as a CNC machinist. My father shared his love of these remarkable singing bird automata with me, and I've come to really enjoy bringing them back to life for many more generations to enjoy.Originally from Germany, I am especially proud to be restoring these beautiful German pieces and preserving a small part of their history.This cage is a beautiful example of an early Karl Griesbaum singing bird cage. It is entirely metal, zero plastic. This cage I was able to just slightly touch up a well preserved origonal bird. The entire rest of the cage has been completely gone over.The bird is surrounded by a very well-preserved original decorative setting, which I have carefully maintained to retain the character of the original piece.The Cage & MechanismAll exposed brass has been meticulously polished and lacquered to preserve its current luster and protect the finish for years to come.The mechanism has been thoroughly gone through. The bellows have been entirely rebuilt, and the mainspring has been cleaned and re-greased.
