Antique porcelain mustache cup dating approximately to the late 19th or early 20th century.
Features the distinctive built-in porcelain mustache guard designed to keep a gentleman's mustache away from his beverage while drinking.
The cup is beautifully decorated with blue and gray floral sprays, gold gilt bands and an ornate gilt-accented handle. The front features an old German-language beard verse:
“Ein schöner Bart der ist uns wert, er wird von mancher Frau begehrt.”
Approximately translated: “A handsome beard is something we value; it is desired by many a woman.”
