The heavy pressed glass construction features an unusual patented design with a deep reservoir and thick optical-quality walls.Based on surviving examples and period references, this model was intended for use as aglass inkwell (Tintenschüssel) or as apen cleaning reservoir for rinsing and cleaning dip pen nibs during writing.
