Spectacular Pair of Antique Jennings Brothers Renaissance Revival Boudoir Lamps – 1920s
For considerations is an exceptional, investment-grade matching pair of early 20th-century French Renaissance / Neo-Classical Revival lantern-style boudoir accent lamps. Crafted during the 1920s by the legendary Jennings Brothers Manufacturing Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut, this magnificent pair represents the absolute peak of American art metal casting.
While typical lamps from this era feature generic slag glass or simple floral geometric overlays, this incredibly rare architectural variant is a masterclass in classical iconography. The column panels feature a striking, high-relief "Crown Face" (Crowned Royal Mask/Visage) wearing elegant drop earrings, flanked by fluted columns. The upper lantern shade panels proudly feature a magnificent Classical Flaming Urn / Finial Torch motif, beautifully bordered by laurel wreaths and architectural scrolling swags.
Rather than standard colored glass, this rare design utilizes its original clear hand-cut finely ribbed accordion prism glass panels inside the lantern shade. The sharp, vertical fluting on the clear panels beautifully catches, refracts, and amplifies the light, creating a bright, brilliant glow that illuminates the flaming torches and silhouettes
The lamps retain their authentic, factory-applied French Gold Doré and manufacturing-darkened bronze patination [Arts and Crafts Period Table Lamp, Sculpture of American Indian, Jennings Brothers | Adobe Gallery, Santa Fe].
