: : German beer stein from the early 1900s - the era of the German version of Art Nouveau called in Germany \"Jugendstil\".
Made by S.P.Gerz - one of the most prominent beer stein manufacturers. The stein is designed in this very distinctive German Jugendstil style - minimalistic and elegant. It represents the quintessential Jugendstil artifact with its geometrical elements and specific repeating patterns combined with a stylishly designed shape.
The inscription reads: \"Trink und esst - Gott nicht vergesst\" - (Drink and eat - do not forget God)
It is made of traditional Westerwald gray saltglazed stoneware with cobalt-blue overglaze. The lid is pewter created specifically for this stein.
There is an impressed S.P.Gerz manufacturer\'s mark and the model number 1443. The stein is attributed to Paul Wynand - one of the most important and productive Jugendstil beer stein designers. The design for the stein was created in 1906.
Excellent flawless condition.
The stein is quite large and impressive - it stands 13\" tall to the top of the thumblift, about 3 L capacity.
