Offered is a wonderful antique Leavitt & Peirce Cake Box Mixture tobacco tin, featuring the highly recognizable vintage advertising for “Famous Cake Box Mixture.”
The front is marked “CAKE”, while the reverse reads:

This is a great piece of early American advertising and tobacco memorabilia. Leavitt & Peirce was a longtime Cambridge tobacconist, and the Cake Box name became associated with the company’s famous pipe tobacco.
The tin features its original hinged lid, original interior, and wonderful aged brown/red finish with gold lettering.
CONDITION
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description.
This is an antique/vintage item with considerable age and honest wear. It has scratches, scuffs, paint loss, surface wear, discoloration, small spots of corrosion/rust, and general age-related deterioration throughout. The lettering and graphics are worn but still quite readable.
The interior shows age-related discoloration and oxidation.
The lid opens and closes, and the hinge is present. This item is being sold as a collectible antique advertising/tobacco tin and is not being represented as suitable for storing tobacco or food.
I have not refinished or repainted the tin, so the buyer will receive it with its original aged appearance.
