Genuine antique silverplate matchbox/menu card holder from the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, Mayfair, London.
Made by Mappin & Webb under their "Prince's Plate — Triple Deposit" line, London & Sheffield. Clearly marked and numbered (W11423) on the underside of the base.
The clip stand is hand-engraved with the hotel's architectural crest and "Grosvenor House" in script — originally used tableside to hold matches or a menu card. Sits on a round dished base with rolled rim and knopped stem.
Condition: Shows honest age — light tarnish and surface scratches consistent with decades of use, no dents or structural damage. Please see photos, which are part of the description.
