This is a beautiful and rare antique Victorian art glass sugar shaker, also known as a muffineer, produced by the Mount Washington Glass Company or C.F. Monroe Company circa the late 1800s. The piece features the desirable "creased neck" shape in opaque (opal/milk) glass, which was introduced around 1893.
The shaker is expertly hand-painted with a vibrant floral design featuring a white and yellow calla lily and green leaves. It retains its original or period metal shaker top, which shows signs of age and patina consistent with its Victorian origins (oxidation/tarnish may be present).
This highly collectible item would make a fantastic addition to any collection of antique art glass, Victorian decor, or salt/sugar shakers. Please examine photos closely as they are the best indicator of condition. There are no chips or cracks to the glass body.
