Visually striking large 16” representing Tantric deities Vajradhara and his consort in union. Hand cast using lost wax techniques, delicate handwork is visible in the closeups of the shaping and carving after casting. The side profile shows soft curves, downcast eyes and full lips. The cold gold face polish draws the viewer’s eyes to their mutual bliss. They sit on a double lotus base.
The statue has a deep patina with reddish colored tones. Coral and turquoise were used to adorn the deities. Many turquoise and coral stones are present, some missing. The intertwined forms are crisp and sharp. The five point crowns, intricate jewelry, symbolic adornments and lotus base are exquisite, making this suitable for a home alter, shrine or art collection.
Base plate is missing, thus one can see the unrefined bronze and copper content. Some oxidation (verdigris) is present on the consort’s upper arm. Crowns and hands are intact, the four implements traditionally held by the pair are missing.
Excellent vintage condition. No cracks, dents or repairs. No losses to crowns or faces.
