This is a fascinating tin advertising clock or display case for Victory V Gums and Lozenges, a famous British brand of medicated sweets. The tin case appears to be part of a promotional or retail display clock distributed to shops, likely around the early 1900s to 1930s.
Victory V Lozenges originated in Nelson, Lancashire, England, first produced in 1864 by Edward Smith & Co. They were marketed as a “winter sweet” or medicated lozenge, containing menthol, licorice, and mild herbal ingredients for sore throats and coughs.
These advertising clocks were given to retailers who sold Victory V sweets as promotional items. They are collectible today among both advertising memorabilia and vintage clock collectors.
The clock is in perfect working conditions. It has been recently serviced. I am attaching a video of it working.
