Antique Railway Express Agency REA Porcelain Sign 8” Railroad Baggage Wagon 1940 For Sale

Original vintage Railway Express Agency porcelain enamel sign measuring approximately 8” x 8”. This size is documented by the Colorado Railroad Museum as a type commonly used on REA baggage wagons and other Railway Express equipment. Heavy steel construction with original aged mounting hardware and untouched oxidized reverse. Displays original red, cream and black porcelain surface with substantial age-related wear, enamel loss, scratches, oxidation and patina as shown. Railway Express Agency operated under this name beginning in 1929; comparable examples are generally dated to the 1930s–1940s. An excellent original railroadiana piece with tremendous untouched character.
