Antique SOUTHWEST PUEBLO Beaded Dress on FROZEN CHARLOTTE Porcelain Penny Doll For Sale

Little porcelain dolls with no moving parts were known as Frozen Charlottes or ‘penny dolls’ in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Natives of the Southwestern pueblos were known for making beaded dolls, but they were almost always beaded over a soft cotton body. It is very rare to find a beaded dress on a Frozen Charlotte porcelain doll. This little dress is made from cobalt, amber and a few clear glass beads. It measures 2 1/8 inches tall by 1 1/4 inches wide and is in excellent antique condition.
