Today for sale we have an antique tea glass holder of the type used to serve hot tea in a glass, made as a pierced metal sleeve fitted with a clear glass liner, a scroll handle, and a stepped pedestal foot. The metalwork is decorated in relief and openwork with a hunt scene of gazelles and other animals moving through dense foliage with birds above, engraved in the fine detailed manner associated with Persian and Middle Eastern silver work. The metal appears to be silver plated over a base metal, shown by the rubbed areas and the green verdigris along the foot and lower body, so this is offered as plated rather than solid silver unless a hallmark proves otherwise.
