Antique Travel Inkwell & Match safeLeather CladExcellent Vintage Used Condition
Made in England / UKA neat little antique traveling inkwell and match safe. Late Victorian or early 20th Century.
The outer coverings are made of tooled black or very dark green leather covering metal cases. The inside of the inkwell is black metal with an intact glass ink carrier encased inside. The boxes open by pressing a captive press button at the front below the lid. It is a good spring mechanism (I would not trust ink to not leak though...). A fascinating antique item for a writer or collector
of writing paraphernalia. The match safe is matching - one is labelled \"LIGHT\" and the other \"INK\" in silver. The safe opens to two compartments - I suppose both for matches - and a metal cover with a raised surface for striking the match. Both cases open and close well. Normal wear of leather.Dimensions of each:
2\" high
1\" wide
1 7/8\" deepCondition:
Used, antique. The leather is undamaged, but has some scuffs from age.
