Antique WAKEFIELD No 19 - 9 inch Adjustable Monkey Wrench with November 14, 1922 Patent Date. Excellent Condition.
The Wakefield Wrench Company began operations in 1889 and took its name from its founder, John E. Wakefield, an inventor of some note. One of the company\'s earliest products was a quick-adjusting pipe wrench based on patent 454,893, filed by J.E. Wakefield in 1890 and issued in 1891. One novel feature of the wrench was that the jaws had replaceable inserts, one serrated for working on pipes or unfinished articles, and the other smooth to avoid damaging a finished surface.
