Rare antique backplate-style Hanukkah menorah attributed to WNF, constructed in pewter with a silver-plated finish and dating approximately to the late 19th century.
The ornate backplate is richly decorated with traditional Jewish symbolism. Two opposing Lions of Judah flank a raised seven-branched Temple menorah, while a decorative Torah crown rises above the central composition. Elaborate scrolling, floral, and Rococo / Baroque-inspired ornamentation surrounds the scene.
The lamp stands on a raised base with decorative feet and originally accommodated individual oil fonts or candle cups across the front platform. Additional decorative menorah elements appear at the outer sides.
This is an impressive piece of antique Judaica with strong visual and historical appeal, even in its incomplete state.
