Antique commemorative machine-woven portrait lace panel or tablecloth featuring President William McKinley. Measuring an impressive almost 3 feet square (34" x 34"), this stunning turn-of-the-century textile features a detailed profile portrait of McKinley enclosed in an ornate floral and foliate border, complete with his woven name. Most likely made to commemorate his death after his assassination in 1901.
Condition: Excellent antique condition. The lace structure itself is remarkably strong and intact with no holes, tears, pulls, or fraying. There are a few areas of minor, light age-related staining/discoloration as is typical for textiles of this era, but it does not distract from the stunning overall display. Please see all photos for a close-up look at the exact condition.
PLEASE NOTE: This listing is for the lace textile ONLY. It does NOT include the frame or mounting backing, as it is too large and bulky to ship safely. It is shown framed only to demonstrate how beautiful it looks displayed. To ensure safe transit, the lace will be wrapped carefully in acid-free tissue paper, loosely folded to prevent any crisp creasing, and shipped securely in a box.
An exceptional find for collectors of political Americana, presidential memorabilia, or antique textiles.
