Gorgeous late 19th century appliqué quilt (circa 1880–1900).
Bold red floral cross blocks set across a soft white ground with warm tan stems and leaves. The repeating layout gives this quilt a strong graphic presence that works beautifully in any interior.
The red is rich and saturated, typical of late 19th century cottons, and contrasts beautifully against the white ground. The stems and leaves have aged naturally over time from fugitive green into a warm neutral tan, adding depth and authenticity to the overall palette.
Construction & Quilting
Hand appliquéd and hand quilted throughout.
The quilting is especially strong on this piece, with dense, consistent stitching across the entire surface. There's beautiful feathering along with grid and linear quilting patterns that create wonderful texture and movement.
This level of quilting on this quilt is amazing. All cotton quilt with cotton batting.

Condition
Beautiful antique condition.
There is light, age-appropriate toning to the white ground along with a few small scattered spots.
There is also some wear present in the tan stems and leaves within approximately three blocks. This is not throughout the quilt and remains limited to those areas.
The reverse shows light, even age-related toning, consistent with storage and use over time.
