Antique Fencing Club Pure Rye Whiskey Advertising Display – McCart-Christy Co., Cleveland, Ohio
Offered is a large early advertising print for Fencing Club Pure Rye, produced for The McCart-Christy Co., Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A.
The advertisement features a striking turn-of-the-century image of a woman dressed as a fencer, holding a fencing foil with a fencing mask beside her. A bright red heart appears prominently on her blouse.
The lower portion reads:

The lower-right portion is also marked:

COSHOCTON, O.
The McCart-Christy Co. name and Fencing Club Rye brand are associated with the pre-Prohibition era, making this an especially attractive piece of early American whiskey and saloon advertising.
Overall framed dimensions: approximately 30.5" wide × 42.5" high × 1" deep.
The piece remains framed behind glass in a substantial wooden frame with gold-colored inner trim.
Condition: Displays very well for its age. The advertising print shows considerable age-related toning, spotting/foxing, discoloration, small marks and other surface/printing imperfections visible in the photographs. The frame also shows normal age and handling wear. Please closely examine all photographs, as they are considered part of the condition description.
The back is covered with brown paper and fitted with hanging wire. I have not removed the print from the frame, and therefore make no representations regarding anything concealed beneath the backing.
A very unusual large-format piece for collectors of pre-Prohibition whiskey advertising, rye whiskey, saloon and bar advertising, breweriana, country-store advertising, early American advertising, or sporting/fencing memorabilia.
