Rare 1910-20 Beck Goggles Case designed by Hugo Boss with a military inspiration. Made in Italy, this goggles case showcase a vintage style reminiscent of World War II era designs. Perfect for motorcycle enthusiasts or collectors of WW II memorabilia, this goggle case adds a touch of historical flair to any display.
The lightweight metal case consists of two fitted oval sections and retains its original aged surface. Period markings include BECK, Italian/Torino manufacturing markings and registered-design wording.
Of particular interest is the hand-applied dot-punched inscription “L. C. Hoyl Jr.” The inscription appears to have been individually punched into the metal rather than commercially engraved.
This piece descended through the family collection that ultimately passed to Charlie Sporck. Family genealogical and historical material preserved with the estate identifies Judge Levi Clark “Lee” Hoyl Jr. (1870–1931) of Dawson, Georgia. Based upon the inscription, period and family provenance, the case is attributed to Levi C. Hoyl Jr., although individual ownership cannot be independently guaranteed.
Case shows age-appropriate scratches, oxidation, discoloration, small marks and general surface wear. It has intentionally not been polished, preserving the original surface and hand-punched inscription. Goggles are not included.
An unusual named example combining early Italian motoring/aviation equipment with traceable American family provenance.
