April 21 1841 Buffalo NY 1-page letter signed \"J. R. Evans and Brother addressed to \"Captain Samuel Morgan \'of the Boat Rory O\'More, Rochester, N. Y.\"
Excellent condition - written in blue ink.
Content as follows:
\"Buffalo April 21st 1841
\"Capt Samuel Morgan Dear Sir:
\"We shall want 2 Boats here on the opening to take off Hayward\'s flour - he has 1200 Bbls. Your Boat and Dykeman had better come up, the others will load at Rochester with the exception of the one to load at Albion, and if we can get 60 1/2 as perhaps 62 1/2 from Rochr to Albany it will be the better plan to load all but the three at Rochester. We need a letter from Chase dated on the 15th he thinks that will be the better plan.
\"there has no Schooner arrived yet but there are some on the way, which will not probably arrive before the Boats now at Rochester get up here which will prevent the price advancing any.
\"here does Griffith get along, we hope he will succeed in keeping his Boat, We want her much, if we do not get her we will only have 13 Boats - We should have 15 to give and a Boat a day from Albany & Buffalo - don\'t you think you might get another Spoke to Mr. Whal - at Rochester - try, as the more Boats we have the expenses to each Boat will consequently be less - try Fox in Dudley. We will expect you here on Sunday Evening or Monday Morning - try to be the first Boat up from Rochester - If Dykeman\'s Boat is not ready on the opening, it would be better to send the master of the Rory O\'More : the \'Northern Light.\' We hope Dykeman will be ready in time.
