Authentic~Antique~Nippon~Japanese Porcelain~Hand Painted~Moriage~Dish Marked:
$85.00

This is a stunning antique Nippon hand painted moriage porcelain bonbon dish. It is an authentic piece of Japanese export porcelain produced during the late Meiji or Taisho era, spanning roughly from 1891 to 1921.This dish showcases classic Art Nouveau and Victorian influences of the era. It is intricately decorated with lush pink roses nestled inside a vibrant turquoise-teal border and center medallion. The surface features heavy gold gilding and raised moriage (beaded enamel relief work) running along the intricate, swirling lace patterns and scrolled loop handle. It is designed with a dramatic ruffled or scalloped edges and features a single ornate finger loop handle, traditionally used for serving small confections, nuts, or bonbons. The mark on the back of this dish translates directly to "Dai Nippon, Nagoya, Asahi" (大日本 名古屋 旭),providing the exact heritage and age of this piece.大日本 (Dai Nippon) translates to "Great Japan". This formal title was standard practice for Japanese factories exporting high-end ceramics between the 1890s and 1921.名古屋 (Nagoya) pinpoints the specific historic production hub. The city of Nagoya was the core manufacturing and decorating center for fine Japanese porcelain bound for Western markets during the late Meiji and Taisho periods.旭 (Asahi)is the specific factory, kiln, or decorator group signature. This specific workshop operated out of Nagoya, hand-decorating fine blank ceramics with luxury moriage enamel and gilding for export. This piece measures approximately 6.5" (6 1/2 inches) across and is approximately 1.5" ( 1 1/2 inches) tall. Itis in EXCELLENT antique condition. There are no cracks, repairs or visible scratches. The underside does have areas of discoloration. Some of this may be removed with cleaning. I am unsure, I have not attempted to clean this item. The base on the underside does show wear, minor chipping where the dish sits, see photos. The top or visible potion of the bowl when displayed looks amazing. Please review photos for best representation of condition of this item.
