Masterful artistry! Authentic papyrus paper painting, artist signed, from Siricusa / Syracuse Italy in Sicily of the Teatro Greco aka The Greek Theater. The Greek Theater is a Unesco World Heritage site and the jewel of Syracuse. Siracusa is also home to The Papyrus Museum, entirely dedicated to papyrus and its history along with the island of Ortigia in Syracuse\'s historical center, where the magical place of myth and history, The Fountain of Arethusa, springs forth from a spring where papyrus flourishes.
Very nice floating wooden frame with corner medallions and a back matting showing the artist\'s signature and authentic stamp located on the back to the papyrus painting. Measures appx 8.5\"t x 10.75\"w
Acquired from our world traveller\'s estate in Louisville KY. The painting was most likely purchased in the late 19th century.
