Item Description:Autograph Kenyon Cox (American 1856 -1919) on an off-white card with original envelope. The card is inscribed, \"New York, Oct 14th 1894. To Maryrose: Your name is pretty, your note is polite and your return envelope is stamped! So I take pleasure in granting your request. Yours very truly, Kenyon Cox.\" This is one of several autographs to a young collector, Mayrose Berolzheim of Chicago. It appears Berolzheim would send a small card with self-addressed stamped envelope along with a message, similar to this: \"Dear Sir, I am a school girl, collecting the autographs of the most prominent people of the time, and would feel more delighted and honored than words can express, if you would please favor me with yours. Yours sincerely, Mayrose Berolzheim\"
Cox was an American painter, illustrator, muralist, writer, and teacher. Cox was an influential and important early instructor at the Art Students League of New York. He was the designer of the League\'s logo, whose motto is Nulla Dies Sine Linea or No Day Without a Line.
