We photographed this bust with and without the FLASH setting because , to the naked eye, the gilding is not as visible. The FLASH setting enhances the appearance of residue gilding.
19 th Century "Arianna" bronze sculpture
by Achille Collas (1795-1859), Collas was an artist and inventor of "Reduction Mechanique". He is responsible for the transformation of The Bronze Industry in the 19 th Century AND he was F.Barbedienne's business partner!
Achille Collas' machine made the Reproduction of 3D ART WORKS into 2D and 3D. His machine is a P A N T O G R A P H - L I K E machine that enabled the reproduction of sculptures into various scales and materials.
The two men, in 1838, created their foundry and business"SOCIETE COLLAS AND BARBEDIENNE" which had at its peak, over 600 employees and remained in operation until 1954, long after Barbediennes death in 1892.
