This is an original printed production page for the September 29, 1989 (9/29/89) comics section, featuring some of the greatest, most classic newspaper comics strips of all-time, all together on one large high-quality page! It includes Peanuts, by the legendary Charles M. Schulz, Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson, The Far Side by Gary Larson, and many more! Calvin & Hobbes was one of the greatest comic strips ever, and production items with this strip are rare and hard to find, so items such as this are highly sought-after and tough to find on the open market. Additionally, it includes classic examples with their trademark humor of so many other legendary comic strips, including Blondie by Dean Young and Stan Drake, Beetle Bailey by Mort Walker, Garfield by Jim Davis, Shoe by Jeff MacNelly, Hi and Lois by Mort Walker and Dik Browne, Mother Goose and Grimm by Mike Peters, Grin and Bear It by Fred Wagner, The Lockhorns by Hoest, Ziggy by Tom Wilson, Dennis The Menace by Hank Ketcham, The Family Circus by Bil Keane, Marmaduke by Brad Anderson, Heathcliff by George Gately, Andy Capp by Reg Smythe, and more! This was used in the printing of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper, and is overall in very good condition and displays nicely. It has a small closed edgewear tear at the top left edge, as well as indentation marks and crease lines. There are several pieces of masking tape on the reverse side. The piece is a large high-quality glossy coated page (not cheap newsprint), and you can see printer color code bars and target symbols in the margin areas. It measures approximately 15" by 24", and will be shipped carefully rolled. This is a fantastic piece for the collection of a fan of any or all of these classic strips, and would look great framed and prominently displayed.
Please note that this is an authentic piece from the 1980's, not something made for a later reprint or collection book. We have been told there are reprint production art pieces being listed by other sellers that make them seem to be old and from original printings, even though they are not (for example, older production art did not have the words on a separate sheet from the images. Those kinds of things were only done much more recently, using computer technology). We advise buyers to be careful, as there are disreputable sellers tricking many people into believing they are purchasing items that are older and more valuable than what they actually are. Some sellers simply do not state their items are from reprints, while others make very long listings and put a tiny mention about reprints buried deep in the listing, and/or use a hard-to-read font color (like yellow) to prevent buyers from seeing this information. Unfortunately, everything else in the listing (the title, pictures of the cover of the comic from the 1st printing, etc.) makes you think you are buying something from an original printing, and has allowed this to continue despite many buyers saying that they have been taken for a ride and ripped off. This item is a genuine piece from the '80's, not something made for a reprint. We clearly differentiate items from original printings and items from reprints, so you can buy with confidence.
