The Casio TA-1000 (also known as the Casio "Voice") is a rare, vintage electronic talking calculator and clock released by Casio in 1983 . Designed as a compact, multi-functional tool for travelling businesspeople and students, it stood out during the early 1980s for its unique synthetic voice capabilities and sleek silver "Japanese hi-fi" aesthetic. Key Features & Capabilities

• Voice Synthesis: The device reads out calculated numbers, totals, and specific time/date information in a clear synthetic voice. It says "minus" for negative numbers and announces decimal points, though it does not speak the operational commands (like "plus" or "times").
• Time and Calendar Display: It features a 12-hour AM/PM clock that stays visible on its LCD screen. Pressing the dedicated white "Time" or "Date" buttons forces the calculator to announce them out loud. Its internal calendar covers dates from 1901 all the way through 2099.
• Six Independent Alarms: The TA-1000 includes six customizable alarms (AL1 through AL6), each programmed with its own unique pre-set message chime. It also has an hourly time signal that can be set to a cuckoo or a traditional "ding-dong" bell.
• Physical Design: It features a larger LCD screen than most contemporary Casio pocket calculators, physical sliders for volume (Low/High) and modes, a flip-out kickstand on the back for desk display, and it originally shipped with a signature vinyl flip case.
