Chinese blue and white porcelain bowl, about 7 3/4 inches across and 2 1/2 inches tall, hand-painted with a charming scene at the center: two young boys playing beneath a leafy tree, one raising a hand happily, the other playing a flute-like instrument, surrounded by lotus leaves, a small butterfly, and little star accents, all in confident cobalt blue inside a beaded circle border. The wide rim carries a classic Greek key/meander pattern, a repeating geometric design long used in Chinese decorative arts, with a simple blue band circling the body just below.
\"Boys at play\" is a beloved, long-standing theme in Chinese decorative porcelain, traditionally symbolizing wishes for a family\'s happiness, harmony, and many descendants, found across a wide range of Chinese export and domestic ceramics over the years.
The base has a square underglaze blue seal mark with four characters inside a double-line border.
