Complex/Detailed Vintage Nepalese Thanka (Kathmandu, Nepal) Overall 34\" by 24\" For Sale

A remarkable piece of Himalayan art: a vintage (perhaps antique?) Nepalese thanka. This is out of a local museum curator\'s estate. She traveled to Northern India and Nepal sometime in the Sixties, so it\'s at least that old. It\'s highly detailed, a rather involved stacking of deities. Please view all the posted photos. There are some losses here and there as well as general wear. Also, there is a slight odor of incense about the piece. Typed tag on the reverse as well as several handwritten characters. A stamped seal is present too. The painted area measures approximately 13 1/2 by 18 inches. With its sewn on borders, it\'s about 24 by 34 inches. The width of the border varies. The stitches seem to be a mix of machine and hand work. See the last photo. Also, there is a \"veil\" like piece of cloth covering the images. That\'s the yellow piece pictured in the photos. You can waive the signature if you wish. Just let me know. The piece will be carefully covered in tissue, rolled, bagged, and shipped in a long box. Its size prevents it being shipped flat.
