Here\'s a lovely small 1930s-40s Sonora radio. The case has great style with a sort of squat, mini-tombstone style. A very nice looking radio.
The cabinet is complete and has been refinished. The radio was stripped, then grain filled and coated with Mohawk lacquers. The trim was sprayed in a dark lacquer. The finish was buffed out and looks wonderful. There is no veneer damage. It displays very well. Please look carefully at the photos.
It has a replacement grille cloth. The knobs are present.
The chassis is unrestored and will need to be repaired or gone through by a qualified technician if the radio is to be used. It looks complete. This chassis appears to be copper, something I haven\'t seen before.
PLEASE NOTE: The dial glass for this radio is held onto the case with two small clips that only barely make contact with the glass. I am afraid that any jarring in shipping may damage the glass. For shipping, I intend to remove the glass and pack it carefully. You would have to put the glass back in when you receive the radio. I can photograph this process and send you the images if need be. Essentially:
- Remove knobs- Remove three chassis screws from bottom- Remove the back- Pull chassis out- Align glass in opening and swivel clips, then tighten.
If you feel uncomfortable re-installing the glass once you receive the radio, PLEASE contact me before offerding. I don\'t want you to be disappointed.
The radio will be carefully packed in a sturdy box with bubble wrap and peanuts.
