Elephant & Castle Quill Pen & Spill Holder Set Pair Old Paris Porcelain RARE For Sale

EXCEPTIONALLY RARE, PETITE and ELIGANT, describes this Mid 1800s Desk Writing Set. I am offering this Set of RARE Antique, Porcelain Elephants for sale. Each is carrying a Castle Howdah. This iconic imagery was popular, during the Mid 19th Century. Extremely RARE. Especially in this fabulous condition. Unmarked, but I believe them to have come from either the Dresden, or the Old Paris factory. The Heavy Gold Gilding, and the Cobalt Blue Glaze were favorites, of these 2 factories. The Elephant, with the 4 Hollow Towers is a Feather, Quill Pen Holder. It has an attached Tray, to catch any ink drips. The Turret Slots measure approximately 1\" deep. The Tray has molded relief, white and peach Lotus Flowers. VERY heavy Gold Gilding. I have no Quill Pen. So I show a photo of it holding a modern ink pen. To show the function and size. No marks. Altogether, it measures approximately 3 1/2\"×4\"×3 1/2\". The Elephant on the rectangular base, measures approximately 3 1/2\"×3\". The larger opening, between the 4 Towers, goes down to the bottom of the hollow Elephant. He is a Spill or Taper Holder (a Spill is a rolled paper. Lighted, for a flame to melt wax. To seal letters.) This Figure has an old sticker, on its base. Was there, when I purchased them. It describes them as \"Elephant & Castle\" 575.00.

Both are in Excellent condition. No damage. The Gold is still thick and heavy. Very clean. Please view the photos for the condition. A gorgeous and extremely RARE Porcelain, 19th century Desk Set. I have never seen another. And probably never will.
