\"STAG\" HORSE BRASS COLLECTIBLE MEDALLION FROM ENGLAND
Horse brasses were used to decorate a horse by attaching the medallions to the bridle and harness. This tradition was applied to working, cart, draft, and parade horses. The Stag Medallion here is made of solid brass and came from England.
The way you can tell it is authentic is by the two stubs on opposite sides at vertical center which were posts that were ground down for collector\'s use. They are now often found as bar decor as well as hearth and home decor.
The \"Stag\" themed medallion may be for hunting. Brasses were used in Scotland, Ireland, and Wales with their country\'s own themes. The tradition subsided in the 1920s as farm transport became motorized.
