• original handwritten solicitor's letter dated 23rd February 1894, written on letterhead from 25 Bedford Row, London W.C. — one of the most prestigious legal addresses in Victorian London, historically home to barristers and solicitors.

  The letter is addressed to Messrs. Barlow & James and signed A. Hammond. It concerns a property mortgage dispute involving a Mrs. Watkins, who allegedly appropriated a mortgage upon a property as sole next of kin to one Mr. Thomas L. Webb. The writer argues that she held the mortgage from the death of Mr. Webb until her own death as Administratrix solely, and that Letters of Administration de bonis non to the estate of Mr. Webb should be taken out by the Vendor.
