BACKGROUND: The U.S. Naval Aid Auxiliary (NAA)was established during World War II to assist the United StatesDepartment of Warin maintaining a series of stations across the country to provide temporary housing and entertainment for servicemen and sailors during their rotation from one location to another. They receiveda large portion of their fundingfrom public donations, much of which was raised by many of Hollywood’s biggest stars.Appearing at signings forthese specially prepared autograph cards as a fundraiser was popular among the stars. They took little time to sign, were considered very patriotic andgreeted enthusiastically by a ready public. The NAAorganized the signings of the cards and all signatures were writtenon specialty printed lithographic paper that bore the NAA name and artwork.They measure 5\" x 2 3/4\" inches. They are quite hard to find.
