Original French Model 1874 \"Gras\" sword bayonet with steel scabbard. Blade spine is etched \"Mre d\'Armes de St Etienne\" and dated August 1877 — an early-production example with the desirable hooked quillon with ball finial.
Wood grips are solid with no cracks, brass pommel, steel crossguard with French inspection stamps. Blade is bright with a strong edge and some light staining near the tip consistent with age. Scabbard retains most of its original black finish with honest wear.
Please note: the blade serial (59336 on the quillon) does not match the scabbard serial — the scabbard is a period-correct replacement. Priced accordingly.
