This book has taken many years of research to complete and is a nominal roll and the medal entitlement of the first Glasgow Highlanders to go to France in 1914 and had earned the 1914 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.It also covers gallantry awards along with citations as recorded in the London and Edinburgh Gazettes 1914-1920.The nominal roll covers twenty-nine officers and one-thousand and five other ranks who had left Southampton on the troopship SS Novian on the 4th November and landed at Le Harve on the 5th November 1914.The roll shows name, rank and service number as at disembarkation, then 1917 service number if still serving with the H.L.I. then date of enlistment if known, commission date if commissioned, date of death if died or killed, date of discharge if known and reason for discharge, age if known, Silver War Badge number if awarded and reason for award, then known medal entitlement, and finally a number corresponding to notes at the back of the book on the soldiers researched, shows where buried or commemorated, other units served with, change of service numbers etc.There are also photos and descriptions of the medals earned and covers how to research soldiers of the Great War.The book covers all the Glasgow Highlanders that had earned the 1914 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medals.The book is limited to only fifty copies.Please note that the price of the book is £12, have added £1.20 for buyer protection but do not make that clear.
