Handmade Zisha teapot by Gu Jingzhou from the Old Factory No. 1, 1949 For Sale

Gu Jingzhou (1915-1996) was one of the \"Seven Elders of Yixing Purple Clay Pottery,\" hailed as a \"Grand Master\" and a \"Titan of Teapot Art.\" Originally named Jingzhou, he later changed his name to Jingzhou. A native of Yixing, Jiangsu Province, he was awarded the title of Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts in 1988. The \"Old Factory No. 1\" refers to the Yixing Purple Clay Pottery Factory (formerly the Shushan Pottery Production Cooperative established in 1954). Gu Jingzhou was a key figure in the factory\'s founding, serving as a technical instructor for many years and nurturing numerous renowned purple clay potters such as Xu Hantang, Li Changhong, and Zhou Guizhen.
